Thimble Shoals Counseling & Therapy Center
I’m glad you have found my site!
... There is so much to share.
I find over thirty years of experience with children, youth, families, professionals, and organizations is highly beneficial to the work I now do. I care deeply that the support and information I provide for clients target genuine need. My positive regard for clients, and belief in their ability to resource from within, supports a collaborative effort to navigate through transitions. Some of our best work is the most challenging, and whe we are ready to make needed changes, the information and support is there.
In addition to traditional training, intensive study in theories incorporated include: The Nurtured Heart Approach (TM), Emotionally Focused Therapy (TM), and The Empowerment of Listening (TM). I strongly promote a holistic approach to wellness including an emphasis on nutrition, meditation, and consultation on the use of medicinal grade essential oils.
One’s perception makes all the difference in the world, and much help is available for us to consider alternative views of just about anything! I find great joy in helping people discover keys to their health and well-being.
I am a graduate of Newport News High School, Longwood College, and Western Carolina University, a former health and physical education teacher and retired school counselor of 23 years. Continued training and experiences integrated from employment with non-profits, a domestic violence agency, and leadership in faith-based, community, civic, and professional organizations provide considerable depth from which to draw information my clients find valuable.

About Soulmates... REALLY?
Look at this uTube clip by Dr. Sue Johnson:
My license plate stated: 'NURTURE Kids First'. We parent our children with information from our own experience. We had great examples of parenting - or not! We may be determined to function 180 degrees differently. If our own young life was not nurtured or disciplined in the most positive way, we must learn to parent and nurture ourselves. I continue to learn, and find that the work of brilliant authors blend to make SO much sense and provide ideas that can be applied for many people. My intention is to share this information with those who are interested and ready to make changes that THEY deem important. The work can positively impact anyone in any setting, and has proven to be amazingly successful for many families, schools, and organizations. Contact me for more information about these approaches.
